trackplan

The completed County Gate will be composed of 4 baseboards, making up to an 'L' shape 23 ft long.

The boards are mounted for exhibition purposes on demountable steel frames that incorporate the backdrops and lighting pelmets.

The hotel section contains a front loading fiddle yard which can be locked for security purposes. This gives us the flexibility of dispatching main line trains in both directions.  A main focus is the station of County Gate which is also where the harbour branch line joins the main line.

To the right of the station, the East Lyn Valley is modelled. The railway crosses on a magnificent viaduct before disappearing into a tunnel and returning to the other end of the model on a hidden track. A six road fiddle yard lies behind this section. The harbour line passes under the viaduct and returns at a much lower level  on a shelf carved in the sea cliff to the harbour.

Trains can run simultaneously on the main line as well as a shuttle between County Gate and the harbour.
Two main line train can be automatically operated on the oval during tea breaks and lunch!

An additional section will be used eventually so that the model can operate in our home rather than workshop....see here
