This low creeping mat-forming downy perennial that is popular with insects and
is a member of the mint family Creeping, downy perennial of short grassland and

Leaves oval, 5 cm long and sometimes blunty toothed; borne in opposite pairs.
The blue-violet Flowers are 13-15 mm long, two-lipped and violet-blue: borne in
short, dense and cylindrical heads. Flower bracts persist after flowers have
dropped. June - October. Height up to 20 cm Self-heal grows in meadows, in
hedgerows and in ditches, and is very tolerant of poor soils. It will even
persist in grass paths subject to frequent walking.
