- Wood Sorrel (Oxalis acetosella)

- Charming, creeping perennial. Widespread and locally common; an indicator of ancient woodlands and hedgerows. Trefoil leaves, which fold down at night, are borne on long stalks.. When not in flower leaves might be taken for clovers, but they are paler green, softer, easily folding about the midrib, and with red stems. Common in woods and shady places. Thrives in conifer plantations. Lilac-veined flowers carried on stalks; appear April to June. Height up to 10cm
