- Twin Flower (Linnaea borealis )

- Twinflower is a low, creeping evergreen shrub, which forms mats of groundcover. The slender creeping stems are woody. The roundish leaves are opposite. The hanging pinkish-white bell-type flowers come in pairs and have a lovely smell. The plants produces small , single seeded hairy round 'fruits'.

This is a plant of coniferous woods, heaths and mossy tundra. The affix borealis indicates that it is a plant of the boreal forests. It is rare in Britain and is usually only found in the pine woods of East Scotland. Flowers: June - August
