- Great Mullein ( Verbascum thapsus )
- A robust biennial, Favouring dry, grassy places, roadside verges and waste
ground, covered in white woolly hairs. Basal leaves are elliptical and up to 50
cm long; they form a rosette in the first year. Stem leaves have stalks running
down to winged stems. Flowers are 12 - 35 mm across and comprise of five yellow
lobes; borne in dense, usually unbranched spikes . Flowering June _ August. Up
to 2 m tall.
