Construction
began on the 23rd August 2011. The first baseboard is shown
here under construction.
Most of the woodwork has been completed on the first board. It has really been a game of three
dimensional chess to get it all to fit correctly.
Kevin Mason takes a breather - without his
help, I would have huge problems accessing some of the baseboard
The form of the lido can be
clearly seen. Track beds are in place for the funicular and main line. A G
cramp holds in place a jig where a Warren truss girder bridge will be.
After a break while County
Gate was upgraded and restored, work began again on the baseboards. The
photo below shows the second board nearing completion. Mould makers' pins
connect the two together.
In the photo above, the trackbed and track has
been installed along with wiring tails. The lattice bridge is installed
which will eventually span a chasm.
The fiddle yard fits neatly under the main
baseboards.
One of the first trains to
run round the layout is our new loco No7.
The manual operation switch
panel now installed.
