BUILDING BRATTON FLEMING

There are quite a few photos of the station which are published in the available books, (all sold by the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway) and input is always very useful from the Yahoo Lynton and Barnstaple modelling group.

The first job has been to put together all available photos. This have been scanned from publications and some kindly sent to us by friends of the L&B.

Bratton Fleming as it is now

Bratton Fleming Album

Chris Leigh's article in the 1981 MRC on Bratton Fleming

Snow is one of the harder things to model convincingly. This diorama is intended to show day and night time when there has been a few inches of snowfall the night before. As usual, reference to photographs is most important. Issues like how snow will fall from un-insulated roofs and how snow looks like after being swept or shovelled and walked on.

A good reference from British snow (rarely heavy) can be found on the website of railway photographer Roger Dimmick. I find it essential to ensure that the 'snow' stays where it is intended as some of the materials used, (fine ground plastic or microscopic glass bubbles) can find itself in every mechanism you own and wear it away.
